Savannah is a beautiful place to visit year-round. Choosing the best time to plan your visit can depend on your personal preferences and what you want to do during your visit.
Each season has its benefits, however we would personally recommend visiting in the spring or fall when the weather is mild and pleasant.
Spring (March to May)
This is a popular time to visit Savannah, as the weather is pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to the low 80s Fahrenheit. The city is also in bloom during this time with azaleas flowering and spring flowers abound.
You can enjoy events such as the Savannah Music Festival and the St. Patrick's Day parade. Be warned that there can be crowds during the spring, especially if you visit over St. Patrick's Day where Savannah hosts one of the nation's largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations and parades.
Summer (June to August)
Summer in Savannah is hot and humid, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to more commonly the sweltering in the upper 80s or 90s.
If you can tolerate the heat, this can be a great time to visit as the city is less crowded, and you can enjoy events such as the Savannah Gourmet Seafood and Spirits Festival and the Fourth of July fireworks.
If you are visiting Savannah with beaches and water activities in mind, summer is the time to come with nearby Tybee Island just a short drive away.
Fall (September to November)
Autumn is another popular time to visit Savannah as the weather is pleasant with average temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to the low 80s Fahrenheit.
While it does boast the fall foliage you can find farther north, the mild temperatures make sightseeing very comfortable. You can enjoy events such as the Savannah Jazz Festival, the celebrity attended Savannah Film Festival, or the Tybee Island Pirate Festival.
Winter (December to February)
Winter in Savannah is mild, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to the mid-60s Fahrenheit. The city is less crowded during this time, and you can enjoy events such as the Savannah Harbor Holiday Boat Parade and the Savannah Black Heritage Festival to celebrate Black History Month in February.
Overall, the best time to visit Savannah, Georgia, is in the spring or fall when the weather is pleasant, and the city is bustling with events and activities. However, if you prefer to avoid crowds, you might enjoy visiting in the summer or winter.
